we just picked up this pressure canner today its a presto 23 quart.it will hold 7 quart or 20 pint size jars.weve never canned before but my family does so we are going to try this fall.we will be picking up pint size jars to can in as we dont eat a whole lot and a quart will go to waste.[img] [img]IMG]http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn282/survival101/radio011.jpg[/IMG][/img] |

You don't have to have a pressure cooker to can foods. All you need is to add you veggies or fruits in a mason jar, screw on the lid, and put it in a boiling pot of water. Once the food inside starts to boil you let its simmer for about 10 - 15 minutes, and presto the jar is sealed and good for 5-10 years as long as the seal holds up. I get free coupons for mason jars, usually buy 5 get 5 free. |
