Background: It is two weeks after a major event which caused the collapse of Modern polite society. Your group is made up of yourself and whomever you would most likely have with you during the first few weeks of a PAW and you are equipped like you would be in real life. Your group is on back roads heading towards a destination in 3 vehicles. There is a river you must cross to get to your destination and according to your maps there is only one local bridge. The river is too deep to ford and any other bridges you can find on the map would cause you to go far out of your way and may cause you to not have enough fuel to reach your intended destination.
Scenario: Once your convoy is completely on the bridge, previously unseen forces spring into action at each end of the bridge. They begin to push stalled-out/abandoned vehicles into place to block both avenues of escape and you start taking sporadic small arms fire from both of these improvised barricades. The bridge is four lanes wide and large enough that there is a good 75-100 meters between your lead vehicle and the front barricade and the same is true for your rear vehicle and the rear barricade.
What would you do? |

Hm... I would probably charge forward, having everyone but one person fire on the forward group and one person fire on the rear group to suppress. By the time we made that 75 meters, we would hopefully have gotten at least some of the attackers. Upon reaching the roadblock, I would slow down to a near stop in front of it and then accelerate into the block, pushing them out of the way without sustaining nearly as much engine damage as just ramming it. |

Diagonally park the vehicles in alternating directions to use as cover. Cut the numbers as much as possible with accurate fire. Determine which barricade has the weakest defense and rush that one using the vehicle as cover and then a ram with the rear end so the motor is not damaged. It is always better to attck an ambush. Sometimes it works...sometimes it doesn't!!!!
Note. Any vehicles I would use in a SHTF would be up-armored as much as possible. _________________ "If this ain't a mess, it'l do 'till one shows up" |
