i don't think anybody needs a link to this thread anymore since it's ALL AROUND THE NEWS
latest update iv'e got: indonesia stopped rice export and the price doubled in 1 year, wal-mart is absorbing the raises but for how long?, and local groceries are tryin to smuggle the raise to the buyers... and it pretty much goes unnoticed.
my WCS is that this crisis won't be solve before next spring, and in this time-frame, more than 80% of world pop will be directly concerned.
any thoughts, or different scenarios?? _________________ you'll never feel more alive than on the edge of death |

The same thing is happening here with stock feed. The corn is all being used for ethanol productio. Farmers and ranchers are selling their stock early and not planning on replenshing the herds. Shortages will skyrocket prices!! _________________ "If this ain't a mess, it'l do 'till one shows up" |

I'm glad I have a healthy stock of basmati, white shortgrain, and red lentils. I don't think anyone will be affected in the first world. The biggest problem is that the news media are all telling us about rice shortages and panic in the streets which causes a run on the grocery stores. The general trend seems to be that the east and west coasts are having a plague of panic buying by people who don't even eat rice normally. Here in the midwest, it's no big deal... Yet... |

this is just as utopic than the ethanol revolution, nobody saw it coming, but it is the first responsible for the high costs of most crops... so use water to feed our SUV's won't make it, it will only unbalance another natural cycle _________________ you'll never feel more alive than on the edge of death |
