if your looking for way to store water i am currently using 6 five gallon bubbler jugs like you see in offices.you can also buy a good water filter and refill the jugs yourself at home.if you need to store more for a short period of time i would think you should get one or two of these....waterbob.com

I have a water cooler and 5 or 6 jugs for it. I refill them self-serve at a local water store for 25 cents a gallon. They even have a bottle washer. My city water has a lot of chlorine and hardness in it, and while filters will get rid of chlorine, they leave the hardness and it makes for rotten hot tea or coffee.

So I always have a few 5 gallons jugs available.

When I had the storage space I had 10 5 gallon jugs of culligan and one of those nifty dispenser things that heated and cooled water also. Currently I only have 30 gallons in the water heater and 3 1 gallon jugs. I do have a source of fresh water 100 yards away and am going to get a nice filter with an activated charcoal element.

My wife who was an environmental sciences student says that you can tell tell the local water quality by frogs, If there are frogs in the water you want to drink it should be safe with just a filtering. Basically the chemicals and heavy metals will kill off the tadpoles. Since frogs are more fragile then people if there are no frogs then the water is toxic and cant be made safe by filtering/bleach

Due to space, the upper limit of my water storage is going to be one case of bottled water.
